Jessika Marie of The Mavenhood Presents:

Become the Maven of Your Own Life & Take Your Wellness Back into Your Own Hands

Sunday, March 22

Does this Sound Familiar?
You’ve taken a ton of courses. Read all the books. You’ve kept up with the trends. You’ve followed the Influencers, Gurus and Experts. You know a lot of things. Yet, you find yourself feeling lost. Underwhelmed. Out of control or bored. You have a deep sense that you are not really steering your own ship and want that to change.
How about this?
Your work is consuming. You’re exhausted and overwhelmed. Every day feels the same. Your life no longer feels like your own, but rather it marches to the demands of your work, family and social circle. Life feels like a task rather than an opportunity. You keep waiting for the day when you can take a moment for yourself. You wonder what your life could look like if you could just remember who you really are and what you really want?
Is your heart beating a little louder after reading this? Maybe it’s time Beautiful Wmn to become the Maven of your life.
What is a Maven?
A Maven by definition is an expert or connoisseur. But what does that mean for us? It means that we have tapped into a part of ourselves that has not only the answers to our love, health, money, career or relationship questions but allows us to be comfortable in the unknowns of our mysterious and beautiful life. We have resilience, patience, determination and discernment.
Our minds are open to receiving new information, yet we are not swayed to every idea that is presented to us. We are willing to do the inner work and self inquiry that it takes to really KNOW ourselves. We are ready to get real with our past, our shadow and our hidden desires. We understand the seasons and cycles of life. Especially as a woman. We are living in our body, we are present to our experience, we are mindful of our environment and we are bold in our course of action.
Becoming A Maven
Becoming A Maven is a four hour curated experience for the woman who is ready to become MAVEN. It is an intensive retreat style experience that is designed to ask the right questions, cultivate confidence and dance on the edges of your comfort zone in order to help nudge you towards the life you are both ready for and deserve. This is not a bandaid job. This is not a quick fix. It is however, the first step in aligning yourself with your own wisdom so that YOU can be the curator of YOUR own experience.
Some areas we will explore:
Accessing our Intuition
Self Healing Modalities and Strategies
Healthy Sexuality, Pleasure and Joy
Defined Boundaries and Sacred Fences
The MotherWound and FatherWound
Embodiment Practices and Mindful Movement
Writing Prompts and Journaling Reflections
Candid Conversation and Women’s Circle Creation
Feminism, Privilege and Activism
If you have been following my work through Mavens for Mamas, The Mavenhood, UnShame My Story and UnShame My Motherhood Story or are interested in the topics of my book in progress She’s Not Ashamed this is an opportunity to get first hand access to the work I have been doing over the last decade.
Women of all ages and stages of life are welcome. The experience is designed and led from my perspective and experience as a cis-gendered white woman, however, all those identifying as women are welcome to join. This is an inclusive environment and there will be a zero tolerance for judgement, bias or prejudice of any kind.
The only prerequisite is your READINESS to PARTICIPATE in your experience. No voyeurs. No observers. This is a lived experience and to be a bystander will not yield the results you are ready for. I say this with love and respect as well as with deep knowing.
Your investment of $100 includes my time, the material and the experience that I have consciously created for you. I will provide tea and snacks to nourish our body, mind and spirit. HST is included.
There will be a minimum and maximum registration requirement to ensure the best experience for everyone.
What to Bring:
Wear comfortable clothing but that also represents you in a real and meaningful way. You do not need to buy anything new for this unless you want to. Simply show up as your most radiant comfortable self.
Bring water in your own water bottle – hydration is key!
Bring a journal and pen
An offering from nature, or a meaningful trinket, piece of jewelry, anything that represents what you want to bring to the experience for our altar. You can bring it home with you again of course!
YOU. Just perfect, wonderful, YOU.
Our event happens on the SPRING SOLSTICE symbolizing our rebirth into our MAVENHOOD.

Juici Yoga is a beautiful and nurturing studio. Your experience will go well beyond the benefits of the physical exercise of yoga, as Selam Debs, the owner, is very knowledgeable about the spiritual connections and brings that seamlessly into everyone’s practice. Truly a gift to our community.

One of my favourite teachers ever! Selam is knowledgeable, passionate and very present with her students. She creates a deeply calming atmosphere, allowing me to feel completely removed from the outside world. Her love for yoga and teaching and every person that shows up to share time with her is tangible. She sets herself apart in the yoga community in significant ways.

Sarah de Poray

Selam speaks From the heart during her classes. A rarer quality than you might think. Her teaching is powerful yet relaxing and transformative. It’s exactly what I need to shift gears and approach the rest of my day in a new light.

Russel Jennison
Few people show up in my Yoga Teacher Training program as well-equipped as Selam is, with the brains and braun to take on such a life-changing challenge plus the life experience and wisdom to handle the growth we do with grace. Selam is one of those rare gems, open to what life has to offer, intelligent, capable, joyful, and a pure delight to work with and know. If you’re looking to “get the right people on your bus” as James Collins advises, work with Selam. You’ll find her professional, creative, brilliant, and connected to her passion. It’s a privilege to be part of Selam’s journey as a Certified Yoga Instructor.
“You are water to dry souls on your path, Selam Debs. I’m so grateful to have you in my life.”
Asia Nelson

Selam is a wonderful teacher. I love the way she sequences a class – there are levels of difficulty and challenge that you can choose for yourself to have as hard or as relaxed a class as you’d like. She creates such a “zen” environment as well throughout the class, as well as at the end of class with the closing shavasana and essential oils, breath, and meditation. It’s just an all around excellent class and studio. I will keep coming back and have sent many friends and family members as well!

Sarah Eby

The environment is so conducive to a positive yoga experience, serene, inviting, nourishing to the senses.

Julie Tonin
Comfortable, welcoming, and just the right amount of challenge.
Esther Wirick

My boys attended the yoga camp and fell in love. It’s been a week and they are still talking about it. It was a great mix of yoga, adventure, art and mindfulness. Thank you to all the instructors for leaving such a lasting impression.

Selam is absolutely amazing and a joy to be around. I’m spending the weekend with her at a yoga retreat and our conversations and yoga time together has been an absolute joy. I will definitely be visiting her studio when I’m in the Kitchener area next.

Nicolle Boodram
Great variety of classes to choose from and excellent instructors.
Michelle Krug

Clean, fresh facility. Friendly staff. Knowledge instructor.

Martyna Kapouranis

Always calming and nurturing always just what I need!

Erin Bowers Kiers

Best Yoga teacher ever! Truly concerned for my well being. Also… stretches me beyond my (limiting) capacity- thank you!

Kim Snider

This woman, Selam, is an angel , walking among us. She is a teacher, a student of life, and a healer, and if you are lucky enough to be in her presence – you will know the embodiment of kindness.

Peggy McIntosh

A very amazing and welcoming community! The classes have been really great and I’m glad I found a nice studio!

“Recently widowed, my mother was living alone for the first time in her life and experiencing a lot of anxiety in the evenings. I came from Texas for a visit and a friend recommended Selam for private in-home yoga lessons for my mom and me.My mom had never done yoga, and the prospect of her sitting still long enough to learn the basics was daunting. My hope was that she might learn some tools to calm her mind and not be so anxious when it was quiet… I scheduled six consecutive sessions and before the end of the first one, we had a breakthrough. Selam helped my mom connect with powerful emotions in a nurturing environment: we laughed, we cried, we stretched. Selam is perceptive, compassionate and generous. The impact of our time together persists and I’m grateful we found her.”
Barb Armstrong

I just love Selam’s classes! Her angelic voice, rhythmic sequencing, and soothing energy leave you feeling like you’ve floated away on a cloud to heaven. A smart, wise and powerful woman who advocates for everyone around her to feel truly seen.
